Nautilus, 5980/1AR
The Patek Philippe nautilus 5980/1AR, the most colourful of the Nautilus in Bi-metal (steel and rose gold) and the blue dial debuted in Basel world 2010. In the familiar 5980 form of 40.5mm diameter and 12.5mm thick , sharing the same shape as the first nautilus penned by Gerald Genta in 1976. A slightly thicker profile houses the chronograph and date complication.
The integrated bracelet nods to gentas vision of jewellery first , watch second, the beautiful progressive taper of the bracelet with high polished rose gold centre links and stainless steel primary links displaying a number of finishes all secured by the double closure clasp.
The metallic blue dial contrasts perfectly with the rose gold hardware and creates a striking look, especially with rose gold hands and indices. The exhibition case back displays the 28-520 movement perfectly , 35 jewels with uni directional winding and ceramic bearings and 55 hour power reserve and rated by Patek for -3/+2 seconds per day.
Our 5980/1AR is presented in brand new unworn condition, displaying no signs of wear or polishing, complete with 2020 dated certificate of authenticity and full Patek book-pack and original wooden Patek Philippe box. As of 2024 the 5980 is discontinued and not many unworn examples exist.
