In 2022, Audemars Piguet celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak, the model they are best known for. Such a milestone was never going to pass by without some fanfare. There were movement updates and the 26240CE (ceramic) was added to the model line up.
The 41mm case is made entirely out of black ceramic with the case and bracelet being finished with brushed and polished surfaces. Ceramic as a material is incredibly tough, light and scratch resistant. However, it is also a very difficult material to work with especially when it is used for something as complex as a timepiece.
This timepiece features AP's signature ‘Grande Tapisserie’ dial with 18 carat, rose gold applied hour index markers and sub dials to add a touch of contrast to the all black casing. Powered by the in house AP calibre 4401 movement, featuring a 70 hour power reserve.
